Provides safe emergency shelter for NRV families with children not experiencing domestic violence from the NRV. NRFS shall seek to connect families and individuals to opportunities that promote self-sufficiency and stability.

NRV Senior Services – Meals and Transportation (540) 980-7720

Delivers meals five days per week to those that are 60 years or older and are homebound due to a physical or mental disability: Offers transportation to and from the 7 Nutrition sites throughout the NRV, Including specialized shopping and non-emergency medical transportation. Provides transportation to those with a sensory or physical disability and medical transportation to those with Medicaid.

Distributes new and used clothing to persons in need throughout the New River Valley; United Way funds provide two sets of new school clothes to disadvantaged children in Radford City through the August Kids Program.

An advocacy group for children & families in the NRV, NRV CARES mission is to protect children from abuse & strengthen families through advocacy, education & community partnerships; programs include CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), parenting young children courses using the STEP (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting) curriculum, and community education for child abuse prevention.
