Kymn became the Executive Director of United Way in 1993. She is the chief professional officer of the organization working with staff, board of directors, volunteers and community to execute United Way’s mission. Kymn does a lot of hands-on work in all areas of the organization, as well as guiding staff. Prior to United Way she was the Executive Director of neighboring Pulaski County United Way, has worked for other non-profits and an engineering firm in marketing. Kymn has a MPA from NC State and a BA from Catawba College.
Kymn lives in Christiansburg with her husband, six kids, five dogs and seven cats. When not working, she enjoys volunteering her time, sports, photography, sharing her love of photography, hiking, and caring for her large family.
Lois Moorefield Davis
|Lois joined the United Way team in 2012. She is primarily responsible for the financial end of our operations concentrating on donations, designations, accounts payable and receivable, pledge processing, and general operations. Before coming to United Way, Lois worked at New River Community College in the Office of Transitional Programs teaching and counseling GED students, at risk young adults, and individuals who were or had been in foster care. She received her degree in Education from Virginia Tech.|
Lois enjoys volunteering. Some of her volunteering endeavors include Relay for Life Activities Chair and 20+ years in various positions with the Boy Scouts of America. Lois is an avid Hokie, enjoys cross stitch, Claytor Lake, and most outdoor activities. Lois lives in Dublin with her husband, Ron Davis. They have one son, Ronald Davis who is a student at Virginia Tech.
Marcela is our Programs Manager, responsible for community assistance through information and referrals. She coordinates the ongoing and seasonal United Way programs including our VolunteerNRV volunteering platform, emergency food pantry, Stuff the Bus and holiday assistance. She initially joined the United Way team in 2012 as an AmeriCorps VISTA working on our VolunteerNRV program.
In her spare time Marcela enjoys volunteering with various local organizations, kayaking and lounging by the river, spending time with good company and watching old westerns.
Rachel Stanford is the Resource Development Associate. She supports campaign, marketing, and donor information management activities and works to maintain positive relationships with local businesses. Rachel interned at three non-profit agencies prior to joining the UWMRF team in 2017. She graduated from the University of Mary Washington with a BA in International Affairs and a minor in Latin American Studies.
In her spare time, Rachel enjoys volunteering with various organizations throughout the community, traveling, hiking, running, going to the beach, and spending time with family, friends, and her dog.
