Diversity, equity, and inclusion are vital to achieving United Way of the New River Valley's mission of helping people and improving community.
United Way of the New River Valley will uphold the principle of diversity as a strategy to best serve the organization and its communities. United Way NRV is committed to value, encourage, and seek diversity in carrying out the mission and goals of the organization. All volunteers, staff, members, and other associates of the organization will be respected and treated fairly without regard to any classification or category. It is the policy of United Way of NRV to comply in all its daily operations with all the requirements of law and regulations regarding non-discrimination and equal employment opportunities as they apply to officers, board members, personnel, and volunteers.
This policy serves as UWNRV’s basis for seeking diverse representation in the organization across all persons who serve in any capacity with the organization. Diversity is sought across as many classifications as possible and seeking persons who desire to serve the community throughout the organization and have skills/abilities/desire to do so. UWNRV will continually assess the composition of its staff and volunteers, and seek organization participation via multiple means to both the general public and specific, identified targeted audiences in which it desires to increase participation.
